This Maple Glazed Tofu is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and tossed in a sweet sweet maple-soy sauce. Lets celebrate #NationalMapleSyrupDay the Vegan way!
Ingredients
8ozFirm Tofu, 227g
1½tspOlive Oil
Sauce:
1½TbspLow Sodium Soy Sauce
1½TbspStevia-sweetened Maple Syrup, 22.5ml
1½TbspApple Cider/White Wine Vinegar
½tspGinger-Garlic Paste, 3g, or ¼ tsp each Minced Garlic and Ginger Paste
⅓tspCrushed Red Chili Pepper Flakes
Garnish:
2TbspGreen Onion, Finely Chopped, 5g
⅓tspSesame Seeds, 1g
Instructions
Arrange tofu between 5-6 paper towels and press down with heavy pots/pans on top. Let drain for 15 min. Cut into ½” cubes.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium and add tofu. Cook 3-4 min, flip and cook other side 3-4 min until lightly golden. Drain extra oil.
In a small bowl, combine ingredients for the sauce.
Pour sauce into skillet and cook, stirring continuously until it starts to thicken and coat the tofu, 2-4 minutes.
Transfer to a plate, drizzle on extra glaze and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
