Superb Nutella Protein Donuts made healthy with protein powder and sugar-free nut butter substitute! These chocolate hazelnut protein donuts are baked and have no oil or butter either.
Ingredients
½cupWhole Wheat Pastry Flour, 60g, see post for subs
⅔cupChocolate Protein Powder, Whey-casein, 60g
6TbspUnsweetened Cocoa Powder, 30g
2tspBaking Powder
1cupUnsweetened Applesauce, 240g
6Egg Whites, 180g, about ¾ cups
¼cupChocolate Nut Butter/Nutella, 64g
2TbspNon-fat Greek Yogurt, about 28g
Nutella Glaze:
¼cupUnsweetened Cocoa, 20g
2TbspChocolate Protein Powder, Whey-casein, 12g
1TbspZero Calorie 1:1 Powdered Sugar Substitute, or regular
1TbspChocolate Nut Butter/Nutella, 16g
⅓cupUnsweetened Almond Milk, 80g
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 12-cavity donut pan with cooking spray to grease.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, protein powder, cocoa powder, baking powder and sweetener.
Add in applesauce, egg whites, chocolate nut butter and yogurt and mix with a large spoon until just combined.
Mixture will be runny.
Divide mixture evenly among donut pan cavities, filling about ⅔-¾ way up.
Bake for 13-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean.
Let cool for 5 minutes and remove from pan. Transfer to a cooling rack to cool.
Glaze:
Let donuts cool completely
In a bowl, mix cocoa, protein powder and sweetener.
Add chocolate nut butter and milk (little at a time) and mix until smooth.
Dunk donut in glaze and place on cooling rack to cool!
