Very amazing and anabolic Protein French French Toast Sticks perfect for a high protein breakfast or post workout. With protein powder, egg whites and a hint of cinnamon, this anabolic french toast recipe might be better than your normal!

This French toast sticks thing has been quite a trend on Instagram for a while now – or at least among the people I follow, so I just had to hop on.

But I feel it was also too much of a trend that everyone was making normal versions, so I went for an anabolic french toast sticks recipe. Protein powder to replace the sugar, and egg whites to replace the egg.

And and to add another twist – used hamburger buns!

Ingredients for Protein French Toast Sticks

These high protein french toast sticks are made with whole wheat bread and sweetened with protein powder; No sugar and no fat either since there’s no egg or butter. Low calorie too!

  • Whole wheat or other whole grain bread to keep it healthy. A sprouted seed bread works great too!
  • Vanilla Protein Powder – for high protein french toast, and also replace the sweetener.
I recommend ProteinWorld Vanilla for this recipe to keep it sugar free; Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount.
    Another option would be Quest.
  • Egg White for a protein bump without the fat and cholesterol
  • Almond Milk – You can use any other reduced fat milk too
  • A pinch of Cinnamon

How to make Anabolic French Toast?

This anabolic or protein french toast recipe is one of the easiest protein powder breakfast recipes you can make, and requires the same amount of effort as a regular one.

Prep the Vanilla Protein Powder French Toast:

  1. Slice each piece of bread into 3 sticks using a pizza cutter or serrated knife.
  1. Whisk the ingredients for the batter in a large shallow bowl or dish: vanilla protein powder, almond milk, egg white and cinnamon.
  1. Place the bread sticks into the mix and let it soak for 3-4 minutes, flip, and let the other side soak another 3-4 minutes.
If your bowl is large enough, do all slices together, otherwise work in batches.

Cook your High Protein French Toast

  1. Heat a nonstick pan or skillet and lightly spray with cooking oil spray.
Be sure to use medium-low heat so the french toast sticks don’t burn don’t burn.
  1. Place the soaked bread sticks and cook each side about 2-3 minutes. Be gentle when you flip.
The bread should come off the pan very easily!

Alternatives for Protein Cinnamon French Toast Sticks:

Hamburger Buns French Toast!

What to do with leftover hamburger buns?

If you have leftover hamburger buns or hot dog buns, they are perfect to use for these protein cinnamon french toast sticks!

For a keto, low carb and also low calorie French toast sticks recipe, I recommend using hamburger buns from Smart Baking Company.

Vegan French Toast

For a vegan protein French toast recipe, replace the egg white with a flax egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed meal + 3 tablespoon water let rest 5 min).

The dairy free part is already covered since this French toast has no milk and is without heavy cream as well – just non dairy almond milk.

Make sure you use a plant based protein powder and dairy free chocolate chips. ProteinWorld has a Vegan protein blend as well.

Gluten Free or Other Bread Options

Switch out the whole wheat or normal bread for gluten free bread in case of allergies and you have a glutenfree French toast!

I bet sourdough bread or challah would be amazing too, but they won’t be fully whole grain anymore.

Topping and serving this High Protein French Toast Recipe

This recipe is designed as a French toast for one, and makes a great breakfast or brunch, or even a post workout treat.

Go for the classic: maple syrup; I would recommend Lakanto to keep it sugar free (HAYLSKITCHEN gets you a discount)

For a high protein topping, smear on some Greek Yogurt.

Add a bit of crunch with some nuts – slivered almonds or maybe even walnuts would go well.

If you’re a fan of fruit, strawberries, blueberries or bananas would be heavenly!
