Super rich and indulgent Chocolate Protein Tiramisu with a chocolate protein cake and protein cream! Healthy chocolate tiramisu recipe with no eggs, no sugar and no mascarpone either! A macro friendly dessert.

Okay I am not even kidding about how rich and beautiful a dessert this is – soft and rich chocolate with the hint of coffee and then the protein cream; A truly magical combination here in this chocolate tiramisu.

Quite a healthy chocolate tiramisu recipe here though with no eggs or sugar either – it uses protein powder and cream cheese!

Ingredients for Chocolate Protein Tiramisu

This Chocolate Protein Tiramisu is made with a protein cake and cream cheese – Greek yogurt cream, and has no oil or no sugar either; The perfect healthy Tiramisu!

  • Chocolate Protein Powder needed for a high protein cupcake and also replaces the ‘sugar’.
I used Whey-Caesin Chocolate Donut protein powder from HTLT Supps
    And Whey protein powder from Chocolate Protein World; Code HAYLSKITCHEN gives a discount;
  • Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Substitute – I use Lakanto, to keep this recipe sugar free;  (code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here)
  • Hot Water
  • Unsweetened Applesauce
  • Some Lemon Juice
  • A bit of Melted Butter
  • Baking Soda

And for the Protein Cream Layer

This recipe makes a Tiramisu without mascarpone, and uses cream cheese and yogurt instead.

  • Reduced Fat Cream Cheese
  • Non-fat Greek Yogurt
  • Vanilla Protein Powder; This is the source of sweetness in the protein cream for this layered dessert. No added sugar in this recipe. Quest again here.
  • A bit of Unsweetened Almond Milk

And for aesthtic and assembling:

  • Strong Coffee
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

Tips for Chocolate Protein Powder Tiramisu with Cream Cheese and Greek Yogurt

This cream cheese and Greek yogurt chocolate tiramisu recipe is really very easy to make!

For the Chocolate Protein Cake base in this Tiramisu without Lady fingers

  • Use melted Butter so that it mixes well into the healthy cake batter.
  • Don’t over-mix the batter!
Make sure you gently fold the dry mix into the wet to combine them.
If you over-mix it, the protein powder will make the low calorie protein tiramisu cake tough, dense and gummy.
  • Taste the batter and see if you need some extra sweetener. I’d recommend using stevia powder to maintain the consistency of the batter and have sugar free and healthy chocolate tiramisu.
  • Don’t let the batter sit out too long; Pour immediately into baking pan and bake.
This is to avoid any reactions between the ingredients.
  • Don’t over-bake the cake or it will get tough; Remove when the tester/knife comes out just dry, but moist.
  • Let cake cool completely before layering or the tiramisu won’t hold.

For the Cream in this Macro Friendly Chocolate Tiramisu without Mascarpone:

  • Use softened cream cheese so everything mixes well.
  • Beat the cream cheese well
You really want to do this step so the cream turns out light and fluffy.

How to store Homemade Macro Friendly Chocolate Tiramisu?

You can freeze this healthy chocolate tiramisu recipe!

To freeze healthy chocolate tiramisu, slice and wrap each piece in plastic wrap, and then place in freezer-safe zipper bags.

Thaw in fridge before eating.

Alternatives for Healthy Chocolate Tiramisu Recipe

For the perfect healthy chocolate tiramisu recipe, I used protein powder, cream cheese and yogurt – no sugar or mascarpone – and I would highly suggest using the ingredients recommended.

I do have some alternatives you can try. I haven’t testing them all, so I can’t say how the recipe might turn out.

  • Whole Wheat Pastry Flour: Use All purpose flour or 1:1 Gluten Free Baking Flour in the same amount by weight not cups.
  • 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Replacement: Regular confectioners sugar or coconut sugar (this won’t be sugar free though, and also higher in calories)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8” x 8” brownie pan or baking dish with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese using an electric hand mixer or paddle attachment of stand mixer until smooth; About 1 minutes.
  • Add Greek yogurt and milk and beat again until combined.
  • Beat in vanilla protein powder, scraping down the sides if needed.

    Repeat and cover entire base.
  • Spread half cream mixture on top (smoothen with back of spatula or spoon)
