These no bake Cocoa Puff Protein Balls with cereal and protein powder are an easy snack, breakfast or post workout treat! Low sugar and healthy chocolate cereal puff energy bites on the go!

I’m a total fan of cereal here, but eating chocolate cereal protein balls just has a whole other vibe!

Think about it – handheld balls of cereal that are soft and a bit crunchy and great for an on-the-go snack. Much more convenient than a bowl of milk and cereal I would say!

Ingredients for Cocoa Puff Protein Balls

This cocoa puffs protein balls recipe is made with a few simple and healthy ingredients, amd makes for a great on the go snack or post workout treat.

  • Cocoa Puffs Cereal
  • Rolled or Instant Oats
  • Protein Powder for high protein energy balls recipe, and also replace the sweetener.
I recommend the ProteinWorld Slender Blend or Whey Protein Powder for this recipe to keep it sugar free; Use the code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount.
    Another option would be Quest.
  • Unflavored Protein Powder I used the multi-purpose one from Quest to add some extra protein in these puffed cereal bites.
  • Almond Flour
  • Coconut Flour
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk

Recipe for Cocoa Puff Cereal Balls with Protein Powder

These cocoa puff cereal balls really are extremely easy to make – a simple no bake, mix and roll recipe.

  1. Process oats and unflavored and vanilla protein powders in a food processor until fine.
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl – the oat-protein powder mixture, cocoa puffs cereal, almond flour and coconut flour.
  1. Add milk and stir until it forms a dough. If it’s too dry, add just a teaspoon of milk, and some more coconut flour if too wet.
  1. Spoon out some of the cereal puff protein ball mix, about 1 tablespoon worth, and roll it using your (clean) hands.
Alternatively flatten them out and make cocoa puff cereal cookies.

To Store Cocoa Puff Protein Bites

These cocoa puff protein bites are best stored in the fridge since they do have a bit of milk in there.

To store chocolate cereal puffs protein balls in the fridge, keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

To freeze protein chocolate puff balls, place in an airtight sealed container or freezer safe zipper bag for 2-3 months. Let them thaw on the counter before eating.

Alternate ingredients for healthy Cocoa Puff Energy Balls

These cocoa puff protein energy balls are quite a diet friendly recipe and you can switch things around to amke it fir your needs.

  • Cocoa Puffs: Any puffed cereal – plain puffed rice or corn cereal, or even flavored ones like Reeses puffs work for these protein balls.
  • Unflavored Protein Powder: Unflavored collagen (I use the one from Further Foods (HAYLSKITCHEN gives you a discount)), or more Almond flour or Oat flour
  • Almond Flour: Cashew flour, or Oat flour (you might have a different texture with the oat flour option)
  • Almond Milk: Regular milk or other non dairy milk
  • Protein Powder – Lakanto 1:1 Zero Calorie Monkfruit sweetener to keep it sugar free. (code HAYLSKITCHEN gets you a discount).
  • Coconut Flour: Try 3x the amount of almond flour (I haven’t given this a try yet, but it should work)

To make Vegan Cocoa Puff Cereal Cookie Balls

Use a plant based puffed cereal and protein powder to make Vegan cocoa puff energy balls; There’s no cream, no butter and no eggs in here already, so it isn’t too hard.

ProteinWorld has a Vegan protein blend which would be great for these protein bites (HAYLSKITCHEN for the discount here too).
