Yes, another protein ball recipe here because these bites and truffles are just so easy to make!

These ones are basically peanut butter protein balls with chopped up peanut butter cups.

Just 5 ingredients – one of which is the PB cups!

A bit too minimalistic here and they only take about 5 minutes to make too.

What you need for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Protein Balls

These homemade peanut butter cup protein truffles are made with just a few healthy ingredients- no dates and no syrup!

  • Creamy Peanut Butter for soft and smooth protein bites
  • Instant or Rolled Oats; Use gluten free if needed
  • Vanilla Protein Powder – this is what makes them high protein truffles. I use Vanilla Quest protein powder for this and all my recipes.
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • Sugar free Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups candy. I use the one from Lakanto (code HAYLSKITCHEN gets you a discount)

Since these peanut butter cup protein balls are sweetened with protein powder and use sugar free chocolate, they’ve got just 109 calories each; Quite low in calorie as compared to the regular versions.

To make Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Protein Bites

These reeses peanut butter cup truffles are the perfect no bake and easy protein energy bites.

  • Process the oats in a food processor to make a rough flour-like consistency.
  • Combine the peanut butter, oats, protein powder and milk in a bowl.
  • Stir until it forms a dough. It might look too dry, but just give it a bit of time. If it’s still too dry, add just a teaspoon of more milk.
  • Chop the Reese’s or sugar free peanut butter cups and fold in.
  • Spoon out some of the peanut butter protein truffle mix, about a tablespoon worth, and roll it using your (clean) hands.

Options for Reese’s Protein Balls

The ingredient list I used for these chocolate peanut butter cup protein bites makes them sugar free and extra healthy, but you can also make some substitutions and have the same amazing flavor!

Make Reese’s peanut butter cups or Reese’s pieces protein balls using the regular candy.

Use plant based protein powder and dairy free chocolate peanut butter cups to make these energy balls Vegan.

Add some stevia sweetener or teaspoon or so of maple syrup if you want sweeter chocolate peanut butter protein truffles. I’d recommend a sugar-free syrup from Lakanto (HAYLSKITCHEN for the discount here too).

To store Reese’s Peanut Butter Protein Balls

You need to store reeses protein bites in the fridge or freezer since they’re made with milk as a binder for all the dry ingredients.

They keep for about 1 week in the fridge 

For a make ahead freezer-friendly option, keep the bliss balls in an airtight sealed container in the freezer for 2-3 months. Let them thaw on the counter before eating!

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup Peanut Butter, 85g
  • ⅓ cup Rolled/Instant Oats, 30g
  • ¼ cup Vanilla Protein Powder, 22g
  • 2 tablespoon Almond Milk, or other
  • 2 Peanut Butter Cups, Sugar-free Lakanto recommended

Instructions

  • Place oats in food processor and process to form rough flour – about 30 seconds.
  • In a bowl, combine oats, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder and milk.
  • Mix with a big spoon to form a dough.
    If mix is too dry, add about 1 teaspoon milk, or more oats if too wet.
  • Chop peanut butter cups into chunks using a sharp knife (and chopping board).
    Add to mixture and fold.
  • Spoon out about a 1-2 tablespoon mixture at a time roll into balls using clean hands.
