With the Valentine’s Day recipe theme – and just otherwise too – we’ve been seeing all these rolled French Toast recipes around. It’s its basically a bread slice rolled up with French Toast toppings used as fillings, and then cooked like te FT.

Whoever came up with this concept was genius, because this really is a very convenient and portable way to make French Toast. A rolled French Toast that you can pack for a day-trip? Yes. And when that same French Toast roll is made healthy with no sugar? Hell Yes!

Ingredients for Protein French Toast Rolls

This high protein French Toast rolls recipe uses simple and clean ingredients to give you a guillt-free indulgence. No sugar added or any other jargon.

  • Sliced Bread – I recommend the low-calorie wheat sliced bread
  • Vanilla Protein Powder – I used Quest Nutrition Vanilla Protein Powder for this recipe
  • Egg
  • Almond Milk – You can use any other reduced fat milk too

For the Protein Chocolate Spread and Filling

  • Chocolate flavor Almond Butter; I used Cozy Cuddles Almond Butter from American Dream Nut Butter, but they have a lot of other chocolate-flavor ones too!
It’s lower fat and higher protein than normal, and just amazing (code HAYLSKITCHEN gives you a discount on these) in this spread recipe.
ADNB has a lot of other flavors that would go well here too.
  • Chocolate Protein Powder: I used Quest Nutrition Chocolate Protein Powder for this recipe
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Water
  • Strawberries

Tips for French Toast Rolls with Protein Powder

Making these French Toast rolls with protein powder is super easy, but here’s some pointers so you can get it perfect!

  • Use a rolling pin to roll the bread flat so they are easier to roll up
  • Whisk the egg mixture to get rid of lumps or they’ll just stick on to the bread
  • Grease the pan so the roll ups come off easily
  • Use medium-low heat so the high protein French Toast roll-ups don’t burn – this can happen quite easily with the protein powder.
  • Be gentle when you flip.
The bread should come off the pan very easily!

Some alternative for this Healthy French Toast Roll Ups Recipe

If you want to make this French Toast roll ups recipe Vegan, you can try replacing the egg white with aquafaba, and used plant-based protein powder.

This recipe uses almond milk, and is dairy free already. Use regular milk instead of almond milk if needed.

To skip the protein powder, use zero calorie monkfruit sweetener instead. I use Lakanto; The code HAYLSKITCHEN gives you a discount on this.

Use gluten free bread to make these French Toast rolls if needed.

Options for the high-protein French Toast roll recipe:

No Chocolate Almond Butter? Use Nutella, chocolate-flavored peanut butter, cashew butter, or even just nut butter.

Vanilla Protein Powder instead of Chocolate would also work in here.
