Jump to Recipe

I actually made this red velvet layer dessert recipe as a birthday cake alternative for my Husband’s birthday last week, and he had no complains! Not kidding, he would have had more than one serving at a time if he didn’t have to share with his friend who came over as a surprise.

It really was the prefect combination of Oreo, Red velvet and cheesecake in there!

Ingredients for High Protien Red Velvet Dessert Lasagna

This high protein Red Velvet Dessert Lasagna is made with a sugar free oreo protein base, protein cream cheese layer, protein red velvet pudding and whipped cream topping. A great combination of laters that’s even good for you!

The Oreo Chocolate Base

  • Chocolate Protein Powder for healthy Oreo base that’s also sugar free; I used Quest Nutrition chocolate whey-casein protein powder
  • Black Cocoa Powder
  • Oat Flour
  • Coconut Flour
  • Unsweetened Applesauce
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk

For the Protein Cream Cheese Layer

A low fat one for a healthy red velvet cheesecake vibe.

  • Reduced Fat Cream Cheese
  • Non-fat Greek Yogurt
  • Vanilla Protein Powder; This is the replacement for sugar; I used Quest Nutrition Vanilla here.
  • A bit of Unsweetened Almond Milk

The Red Velvet Protein Pudding

  • Non-fat Greek Yogurt
  • Chocolate Protein Powder Quest Nutrition again here
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix: I used this sugar free and fat free one from Simply Delish. If you can’t find it, Jello is a great option too.
  • Red Food Color Liquid

The Topping:

  • Reduced Fat Cool Whip

How to make Red Velvet Cheesecake Lasagna with Protein Powder?

This red velvet cheesecake lasagna recipe might seem daunting with the protein powder, but its actually super easy to make!

Mix all the layers one at a time, spread them out in turn, and completely smoothen out before adding on the next one!

Tips to make Red Velvet Cheesecake Layered Dessert

This red velvet and cream cheese layered dessert recipe is really very easy to make!

  • (For base) add milk only a little at a time or the mixture will be too runny.
  • Mix the dry ingredients well before adding in the wet so you don’t have chunks of flour or cocoa.
  • Use softened cream cheese so everything mixes well in the cheesecake layer of this red velvet delight.
  • Beat the cream cheese well before adding yogurt.
You really want to do this step so the cream turns out light and fluffy.
  • Use thawed cool whip topping (not frozen).
  • Let lasagna chill in fridge 1-2 hours before eating so it can set.

How to store Red Velvet Protein Lasagna?

This red velvet protein lasagna dessert recipe keeps well in the fridge for upto 4 days (in an airtight container).

To freeze healthy red velvet lasagna, slice and wrap each piece in plastic wrap, and then place in freezer-safe zipper bags. Thaw in fridge before eating.

For the perfect healthy red velvet layered dessert recipe I recommend using the ingredients (and protein powder brands) specified, but here’s some alternatives you can go for:
