After a lot of time researching between beets and food coloring – coz I really wanted red velvet something – I went for a red velvet coloring. That color was needed!

I actually planned to make a red velvet lava cake, but forgot to preheat the oven for that, so I decided to go for a no bake raw red velvet dessert here.

A super quick satisfaction of the red velvet cake and the cookie in this edible red velvet cookie dough, but healthy and sugar free and high protein too!

Ingredients for Single Serve Red Velvet Protein Cookie Dough

A few simple and healthy ingredients here for this high protein raw red velvet cookie dough recipe.

  • Oat Flour – You can make your own by blending rolled oats in a high speed blender
  • Chocolate Protein Powder for high protein cookie dough, and also replace some of the sweetener.
I used ProteinWorld Whey; The ProteinWorld Slender Blend another great option. Code HAYLSKITCHEN gets you a discount on both.
A third alternative would be Quest.
  • A bit of Coconut Flour
  • 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Substitute – I use Lakanto, to keep this recipe sugar free;  (code HAYLSKITCHEN for a discount here too)
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder or Cacao Powder
  • A bit of Cashew Butter
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk or another non dairy or regular milk
  • Red Food Coloring for that red velvet effect
  • Chocolate Chips – I use sugar free white chocolate chips from ChocZero here for the contrast. But another sugar free regular option is Lakanto (same discount here too) or Lily’s!

If your protein powder is not sweet enough, you might need some more ‘sugar’, or use stevia sweetener instead.

Vegan and Dairy Free Red Velvet Cake Batter

Use a plant based protein powder to get a Vegan protein cookie dough with the red velvet cake flavor; The recipe is already dairy free since it uses almond milk and no actual milk.

Gluten Free

Since it’s made with Oat flour and Coconut Flour, this red velvet raw cookie dough is already gluten free too!

How to make High Protein Edible Red Velvet Cookie Dough

Edible protein powder cookie dough is super easy to make with just a bowl and a fork or spoon.

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: oat flour, chocolate protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao, coconut flour and zero calorie sweetener in a bowl.
  1. Add red food color, cashew butter and almond milk (a little at a time), and mix to form thick red velvet cake batter texture.
  1. Fold in the chocolate chips, and eat out of the bowl.

If you want you can also make red velvet cookie dough balls!

To store Red Velvet Protein Powder Cookie Dough

This raw red velvet cookie dough recipe is perfect for when you want a quick single serving dessert, but you can store any extras if you have them.

Store extra edible protein cookie dough in the fridge for 3-5 days or freezer for 3 months; Use an airtight container.

To serve frozen protein cookie dough, thaw overnight in the fridge, and add more milk if too hard.

Alternative ingredients for Healthy Red Velvet Raw Cookie Dough:

  • Oat flour: Use heat-treated gluten free flour or whole wheat pastry flour (there’s plenty of videos online on how to do this)
Just make sure you’re not eating raw flour
  • Protein Powder: Vanilla or any other flavored protein powder; You can also trying replacing this with more regular 0 calorie sweetener.
  • Coconut flour: Try using about 3 tablespoon of Almond Flour. I haven’t tried this myself though.
  • 1:1 Zero Calorie Sugar Replacement: Regular confectioners sugar or coconut sugar (this won’t be sugar free though)
  • Cashew Butter: Any nut or seed butter
  • Use milk or dark chocolate chips –  Lakanto for a sugar free option again (code HAYLSKITCHEN for the discount) – instead of the white chocolate.
